Create your first monitor

Your first monitor in four steps

   Sign up and open the dashboard

   Register with email and password and confirm the verification email. You then land on the dashboard.

   Go to Websites and create

   Open Websites in the navigation and click the button to add a new website.

   Enter a name and target

   Give it a name and pick the check type. For Website (HTTP/HTTPS) you enter the URL, for TCP port the host and the port.

   Confirm authorisation and save

   Tick that you are authorised to monitor the target and click create. The first check runs right after.

The fields in detail

The form is deliberately short. You set these fields when creating a monitor:

• Name: free to choose, for recognising it on the dashboard.
• Check type: Website (HTTP/HTTPS) or TCP port. This choice is fixed after creating.
• URL or host and port: the target, depending on the check type.
• Check interval: how often it is checked. From 5 minutes on the free plan, from 1 minute on paid plans.
• Email alert: after how many minutes of confirmed trouble the email goes out (default 15 minutes).

Advanced options

For the Website (HTTP/HTTPS) check type you can enable extra checks under advanced options: expected status codes, a keyword check on the page content, and API health checks against a JSON field or a response header. See the guide on check types for details.
