Set up notifications
Updated July 21, 2026 · 5 min read
You set up notifications per monitor on its detail page. They have two layers: which events should reach you and through which targets.
Two layers: events and targets
A monitor detail page has two cards. In Notifications you decide what you are told about. In Notification targets you decide where, that is, which email addresses or channels. Your account address is a target from the start.
Which events
You can turn four events on or off per monitor:
- Outage and recovery: when the site goes down and when it is back online (on by default).
- SSL certificate: expiry warnings plus expired and valid again (off by default).
- Domain expiry: a warning when the domain is about to expire (on by default).
- Load-time warning: when the response time is well above the baseline (off by default).
Note
Changes save automatically. A status line shows Saving and Saved, you do not need to confirm anything.
Channels: email, Slack, Discord, webhook
A target can be an email address or a URL for webhook, Slack and Discord. Email is included on every plan; the three URL channels belong to the Pro plan.
- 1
Pick a channel
In Notification targets, choose the channel, that is, email, webhook, Slack or Discord.
- 2
Enter address or URL
Enter the email address or the target URL. URLs must be https and must not point at internal addresses.
- 3
Add and test
Add the target. For URL channels you can trigger a sample notification with Send test.
Test it once
With Send test email to me you send yourself a sample mail to your account address. That way you see straight away whether delivery works, without waiting for a real outage.
Tip
Set up a second channel like Slack so an alert reaches you even when you are not watching your inbox.
