Monitoring a page for changes
Updated October 26, 2026 · 4 min read
Change monitoring stores the text, HTML and CSS of a page as a version and notifies you as soon as something changes. This page shows how to set it up, avoid false alerts and compare versions.
Add a page
- 1
Open "Changes"
You find "Changes" in the dashboard sidebar. At the top is the "Add page" card, which also shows how many pages of your plan are in use.
- 2
Pick a monitor
Select an existing website monitor. If the page is not a monitor yet, create one with the link below; change monitoring is already selected there.
- 3
Choose comparison and interval
Decide what counts as a change and how often to check, then click "Start monitoring". Clesk Uptime stores the first version right away.
Tip
The address can be a subpage too, such as the pricing page or the legal notice. Exactly this address is monitored.
What counts as a change
| Comparison | What is checked | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Visible text | Texts, headings and prices plus page title, description, robots tag and canonical | Most pages, legal pages, prices |
| Text and design | The stylesheets as well: colors, fonts, spacing | Pages where the look matters too |
| Full source | Links, images, scripts and attributes in the HTML as well | Security, injected code, technical checks |
Area and ignore list
On the monitor’s detail page, the "Changes" card has two filters. With a CSS selector such as #pricing or main, only this area of the page counts. In the ignore list you enter terms, one per line: lines that contain one of them do not count as a change, for example "Last updated:" or "Visitors today".
A new area starts a new baseline without sending a notification.
Notifications and history
When something changes, you get a message with the changed lines, at most one per hour per monitor. Further changes in that time are bundled into the next message. Notifications go out by email, and on Pro and above also via Slack, Discord or webhook.
The history shows the last 100 versions per monitor. You compare any two versions as text, HTML or CSS and can download every version. "Check now" triggers a check right away.
Pages per plan
| Plan | Pages | Shortest interval |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | hourly |
| Pro | 10 | every 15 minutes |
| Business | 50 | every 15 minutes |
Note
Content that only appears through JavaScript in the browser is not part of the comparison. For such pages, a subpage or an API with the same data often works.
